Privacy Policy

Stay Active is a Chrome extension that keeps browser sessions alive by simulating user activity at a configurable interval. This policy describes what data the extension accesses, stores, and transmits.

Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information.
• We do not track which websites you visit.
• We do not log or transmit any browsing history or activity.
• We do not use cookies or third-party analytics.

Data Stored Locally

The extension stores only your preferences using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device:

• isActive — whether the keepalive is enabled
• intervalMinutes — your chosen ping interval
• mode — whether to target the active tab, all tabs, or specific sites
• lastPing — timestamp of the most recent activity simulation
• installId — an anonymous random ID used only for trial/subscription tracking

All stored data is cleared when you uninstall the extension.

Permissions Explained

• tabs — to identify which tabs to keep alive based on your selected mode
• alarms — to schedule periodic activity pings even when the popup is closed
• storage — to save your settings locally on your device
• scripting — to inject the activity simulation code into the target tab
• activeTab — to access the currently focused tab when in Active Tab mode
• host permissions (<all_urls>) — to allow the extension to simulate activity on any website you choose

Network Requests

The extension communicates with our backend service (hosted on Google Firebase) solely for subscription and trial management. Specifically:

• On first install, a randomly generated anonymous installId is sent to register your free trial.
• Periodically, the extension checks your subscription status using only the anonymous installId.
• No browsing data, tab URLs, or personal information is ever transmitted.

The activity simulation (mouse movements, keyboard events, scroll) happens entirely within your browser and is never transmitted anywhere.

Third Parties

We use Google Firebase for backend infrastructure (Firestore database and Cloud Functions). We use Lemon Squeezy as our payment processor for Pro subscriptions. Lemon Squeezy handles all payment data — we never see your credit card details. No other third-party services, analytics, or advertising networks are used.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and note the changes in the extension's update description on the Chrome Web Store.
